Hi everyone!

My name is Neela Browder, and I am currently a freshman at Pace University. This June, I have been given the incredible opportunity to travel to the Cayo and Stann Creek regions of Belize with Global Medical Brigades.

The Mission

In Belize, many Latino, Garifuna, and Mayan communities face significant barriers to healthcare, with only about 8 physicians for every 10,000 people. Our team from Pace will be setting up mobile clinics to provide triage, primary care consultations, and dental services to those who would otherwise have limited access to these essentials.

Why This Matters to Me

Healthcare has always been an issue in so many communities, and having the opportunity to help others get the care they need means the world to me. I believe that we can make a difference in the world, and Global Brigades does so. To be a part of this journey is truly an honor. This brigade is a first step in my lifelong commitment to provide underprivileged communities access to the health care they need. I truly believe that together, we can bridge the gap for those who have been overlooked and ensure that healthcare is treated as the human right it is.
