On February 12th I lost my father.

He was diagnosed with cirrhosis in November 2023. Soon after, I moved him closer to me so that I could take over managing his extensive medical care.

He was unable to work, so I covered half of his rent (the amount still owed after his Social Security) and 100% of his medical needs - including all copays and medications- and 100% of his basic needs other than food. While this was financially exhausting, I was able to keep him afloat for the rest of his life.

Unfortunately, he did not have a life insurance policy that would be able to help me cover the costs that are left now. I was able to pay his rent and end his lease, but I am out of funds to process his remains or have a service.

I do not have immediate family that can help me with this, and I exhausted all of my savings for his end-of-life care. My dad and I have always done life together and it feels so strange to be facing this now without him.

I will post an exact memorial date when I'm able to secure a venue.

Please help me honor my father and lay him to rest.
