I have been sleeping in my car since New years day 2026 after being kicked out of a homeless shelter for being there too long. At that time I had been hired for a job that didn't start until February 9th ( so it's started now ) and was trying to make it until my job started sleeping in my car in the middle of Nebraska winter. During that time I was using a quarter tank of gas every two days running the heater in my car at night to stay warm when it was getting into the negatives.

I've now made it to the point my job has started and things were looking up and then my third day of work the fuel pump went out in my car. The car that I not only drive to work, but also live in. Living in a car you have to move around so people don't pay attention to you being some place too often to sleep or the car will get towed. I now have been stuck in the same spot since Wednesday the 11th and have done everything I can to try to get the car running. I've changed relays, checked sensors, ran codes, talked to many many people about the issue in car groups and the consensus now is the fuel pump needs replaced. If I can get the parts I can put the fuel pump in myself.

Im not going to be able to let my car sit in the same spot until I get paid on the 27th or else I'm taking a huge chance on getting it towed. ( If it gets towed I'm just going to lose the car because I won't be able to afford to get it back out ) On top of having to now walk to work everyday, and having no way to get to anywhere to shower or wash my clothes anymore for work. I am completely stuck and without money I can't do anything more to fix it and be able to just focus on working and getting myself out of homelessness.
