Last Sunday, the Sunday before Christmas, we were at church like any other week. As we walked back to my boyfriend’s car afterward, he opened the passenger door for me, and I immediately gasped… Running along the entire side of his car, from front to back, was a deep, intentional scratch. Someone had keyed his car.
We stood there in disbelief, walking around the parking lot, searching for cameras, checking to see if other cars had been damaged, and trying to process what had just happened. The damage was clearly deliberate, one continuous cut across the length of the car, making it impossible to believe this was an accident… It was heartbreaking and infuriating all at once, especially knowing it happened outside a place meant for peace, worship, and community.
Whoever did this didn’t just want to scratch his car, they cut deep into it… Dust from the paint surrounded the entire area, and bare metal was exposed underneath. The damage shows where they began lightly and then pressed harder and harder as they moved toward the back of the car, turning a scratch into a deep, obvious gash.
This car is essential to his everyday life, it’s how he gets to work, runs errands, and shows up for the people who count on him. The cost to repair this kind of damage is overwhelming and unexpected, especially during the holidays…
We’re asking for help to ease that burden and bring some peace out of a really discouraging moment. Any contribution, big or small, truly means more than words can say. Thank you for your kindness and support.
