This is an urgent appeal for help.
We are facing immediate bailiff enforcement due to five council tax liability orders, with £8,000 needed to stop action.
Despite ongoing efforts to work and manage bills, prolonged income instability has led to this crisis. All funds raised will be paid directly towards the council tax debt.
Over the past two years, my partner has faced a series of severe financial setbacks. He lost his business and, despite repeated efforts to rebuild it or secure part-time self-employed work, nothing came through.
Last year he obtained an employed role, but it was informal and based on a handshake agreement. That income has now also ended. During this time, he was waiting on a significant business opportunity that ultimately did not materialise.
He is currently working on a bank staff basis, but the hours are inconsistent and the income is not sufficient to cover basic living costs alongside existing debt.
Throughout this period, he tried to manage bills through payment plans and arrangements. I have also been covering household bills and paying his share of the rent where possible, using my personal savings to keep us afloat. Unfortunately, my savings are now almost exhausted.
We have now discovered that there are five council tax liability orders in place, and enforcement action is imminent. Without urgent intervention, this will lead to escalating bailiff fees and potential court consequences. The total amount required to clear the arrears and stop enforcement is £8,161.01.
The prolonged financial strain has had a serious impact on my partner’s mental health. He has lost much of his confidence and has been struggling with depression. He began therapy, which was helping, but we are no longer able to afford for it to continue.
We are asking for urgent help specifically to clear the council tax arrears, so enforcement action can be stopped and further legal and bailiff costs avoided. This support would provide critical breathing space while he continues actively searching for stable, sustainable employment.
We are not asking for long-term support — only help to get through this immediate and serious crisis. We are committed to rebuilding stability and moving forward.
Any support, whether through a donation or by sharing this page, would make a meaningful difference at this critical moment. Thank you for taking the time to read and for any help you are able to offer.
Thank you, Carolin
