Support Needed for Symphony Hill Farm's Horses

Symphony Hill Farm has been a lifelong dream of mine. I always wanted to have a safe place for horses and people to come and just be themselves. The last month has been very hard on us emotionally and financially with some really big vet bills and losses.

Haiku was not at our farm very long but she was loved from the moment she stepped off the trailer. The smile she instantly put on the face of a teenager that ended up partially leasing her absolutely solidified her place forever here. She was the most easy-going mare I have ever met. She came in for dinner on June 22nd and instantly told us something wasn’t right. We hand-walked her and called the vet out. After hours of working with the vet, we decided the only option was to go to Tufts. We had a babysitter come to watch the human kids and off we went in the middle of the night. Once we were there, it was determined she was not a surgical candidate and that humane euthanasia was the only option. Between the emergency bill from our regular vet and from Tufts, the bill was almost $3200.

Two days later, one of the retirees collapsed in his stall. Worthy was having very severe narcoleptic episodes. We immediately had the vet out and they ran bloodwork and neurological testing. Those labs came back relatively normal, which was great, but it didn’t explain much. We ran more labs and those came back elevated but still not too many answers, and by this time they had seemingly stopped. We are keeping a very close eye on the old man for the time being. With this timing, we had not even finished grieving for Haiku and were not prepared to lose Worthy too, but this added over $800 to our bill.

One of our amazing lesson horses also needed the vet out today. She had a sudden onset bout of laminitis. Lucy has never foundered or needed anything crazy. Today she was rocked back on her heels and her feet were hot. So we got her feet immediately into an ice bath. By the time the vet came she was more comfortable but we need to make sure that we are not missing something. Her bill today was $780

We are not asking to recover everything but any help would be immensely appreciated as we have also had to replace Haiku in our lesson program, which has also come with its own struggles.
