Hey friends. As most of you know, I went on short-term disability in the beginning of March because I needed open-heart surgery to bypass an artery that was over 90% blocked.
Thankfully, the surgery in April was successful, and my recovery was pretty easy. I was due back to work on 6/1, but I was told over email on 5/28 that my position was being eliminated due to budget constraints. Basically, they wanted AI to do what I did.
And while I did receive some severance pay, that money was only going to cover a few months. I had hoped that I’d find something soon. I’ve applied to over 275 jobs since 6/1, and that’s led to a total of four interviews.
Thankfully, between BA’s income and my unemployment, we can cover all of our bills except for rent (it turns out the landlord likes to get paid). Our property management company is strict when it comes to rent. It’s late on the 5th and gets referred for eviction on the 20th, with the hearing for that on the first.
So we humbly ask for your help. We need to raise enough for rent and utilities. The utilities run a few months behind, so we’re paying July’s electric bill this month, and August’s next month. These are the two biggest bills of the year. If we can raise 7k, that will ensure we can cover rent for October and November.
