Support Needed for Persistent Medical Battle
Donation protected
Most of you know me, what you may not know is that since the end of November last year I have been on medical leave for a persistent wound on the bottom of my foot.
I spent a week in the hospital just after Thanksgiving and then another week at the beginning of January, when the doctor I was seeing for wound care scared me to death with talk of possibly losing my foot. I was able to get a second opinion and told that I wouldn't have to lost it. After that hospital stay in January, I left with a wound vac (to try to help aid the healing process) and a PICC line in my arm to deliver antibiotics straight into my bloodstream for 5 weeks.
Fast forward to now, I have had my wound vac for 7 months and no real time frame to get rid of it. I have had at least 4 repeat instances of infection creeping back in.
I have been unable to work as I need to keep my foot elevated as much as possible. That, combined with my rickets, age, diabetes, and weight, I have filed for permanent disability with the help of a disability attorney, as I can't stand or even sit in my office chair for long periods of time. Things are rolling along with the attorney and I'm hoping to get some good news in the next month or so.
Which leads to the need for this go fund me. I am currently working with my mortgage company to get a forbearance for my house payments. I'm also getting SNAP benefits.
However, my short term disability ran out back in March and I've been making it by selling off some things on Facebook Marketplace. But I have nothing else to see and I need funds to take care of my utilities for the next few months. I need my electricity for my wound vac and to keep insulin refrigerated. I need water to keep things clean. And I need my phone and Internet to stay connected with doctor's office, home health nurses and just the outside world in general.
Besides losing my home, my biggest fear is losing Hopper because I can't take care of her.
I have put this off because I really hate having to ask, but if anyone can help, I would be eternally grateful and it would give me some peace.
