Less than a year ago, my family and I purchased a new-to-us GMC Arcadia 2015 SLT. Recently, we ran into some repair issues we believed we had fixed and all would be well.

As of Sunday, 1/4, the car went down yet again. We sent it to a shop for full diagnostics as it wasn’t anything easily identifiable with basic diagnostics. Today, 1/6, the shop reached out and explained the timing has gone out and has thrown metal, which ultimately means the entire engine is done and needs to be replaced. The shop quoted $10k in repair for the engine swap and labor, as pictured, which we denied the job as we purchased the car for just over half that cost.

I am asking for help as we need to purchase a car. I don’t have the means to turn anywhere else. I simply can’t do it alone.

I have little to no savings as I’ve had several repairs to the car and home both hit so close together on top of medical setbacks.

This car is our livelihood, getting to and from work, getting our oldest to and from school as he’s in a specialized school. It’s being able to get to simple necessities like the grocery store.

Our current goal is 7k but gofundme stages it out on its own. This will all be used to obtaining a new better conditioned vehicle.
