Trying to maintain shelter and food is a challenge due to my income. I have been struggling with homelessness off and on since January of 2024. The financial and life problems I was experiencing months ago when I started this GoFundMe got worse in October when my father passed away. I was hospitalized for a nervous breakdown due to the grief, and to go into the hospital, I had to give up the room I had been renting in Winston-Salem. Shortly after my hospitalization, I returned to Greensboro with no housing options. I am looking for a room to rent, but there's just nothing out there that I have been able to find. Rooms for rent go fast, because so many people are in my situation or worse. The paragraph below is from before my hospitalization in October. I was struggling then, but not homeless. Now, I am really struggling.

I have been struggling financially since my mother passed away in December. I had to give up our apartment at that time and search for a room rental situation due to my inability to afford the apartment by myself on what I received monthly in disability income. This month, I am behind on everything, and I also have car repair issues that need to be addressed. I have no one from whom I can borrow, and my credit score is too low for me to qualify for a credit card for emergencies, because I have over a hundred thousand in outstanding student loan debt. I am searching for a part-time job, but I've not found one thus far. I had been Door Dashing, but the vehicle wear and tear has compounded my financial problems. I need to catch up the immediate bills on which I am behind and make immediately necessary repairs to my vehicle.
