Unfortunately on June 11, 2024 I was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. As with any cancer I have to receive Chemotherapy. I will be having a port installed on September 23rd in order for my Chemo to be injected into my body. On October 3rd I will be starting my Chemo. It is injecting into my body for 5 hours straight, then I will be having a special pump hooked up to my port and throughout the following 24 hours Chemo will be released into my body. This will be going on every two weeks for an initial series of 4 times. Then I will be having scans to see if the Chemo is having any effect on my cancer. If it has a positive affect and has killed the cancer I will be moving on to having surgery. If not I will be having additional rounds of chemotherapy.

My surgery is going to consist of removing part of my esophagus. They will be cutting me in my front chest and well as my side between my left ribs. The surgeon will use rib spreaders and going in and collapsing my left lung in order to make room for him to cut out part of my esophagus. Then he will be taking my stomach and turning into a tube and proceeding to move it up into my chest cavity and trying to reattach it back to my esophagus. If he is successful I will no longer be able to eat properly for the rest of my life. He will send it out to pathology and will preform tests to see if it is cancer free. The best results I can hope for is the cancer has all been killed off and removed and I will be cancer fee. As stated I will be digesting my food differently the rest of my life.

The reason I am starting a fund raiser is because this surgery will leave me out of work for 2 to 3 months. I will be applying to EDD, a disability case to receive money from the government to help pay my bills while I am out of work. However if I do receive this it will only be a fraction of what I need to pay my bills and support my family. I am the main supporter of my family and pay for all the bills. In order for me to survive and not lose everything I own I will need the help of my family, friends, and strangers to help me through this difficult time.
