This all started back on January 30th, when I was injured at work. Since then, I’ve been on workers’ compensation and had reconstructive shoulder surgery in April. I’m still not able to lift more than ten pounds, which has made it impossible to return to my regular job.

To make ends meet, I started driving for Uber while I recovered. Unfortunately, things took another bad turn. On October 16th, I went to Take 5 in Fort Myers for an oil change. They accidentally left the old gasket on the oil filter, which caused a double gasket—a serious mistake that led to all the oil leaking out of my car.

The next morning, as I went to get a new tire, my car lost all its oil and the engine died just 800 feet from my house. I took photos of the double gasket and the oil trail on the road to prove what happened. Take 5 did send someone out to look at it, but they’re not taking responsibility, and now I’m stuck without a car.

It’s been almost two weeks since the incident, and I haven’t been able to work or earn any income. I’m behind on bills, I’ve already lost my home, and I’ve had to move back in with my parents—but I can’t even afford to help them with rent right now.

I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet, but I really need some help to cover basic expenses and try to repair or replace my car so I can start working again.
