Last week, my love was called home to the heavens. It all happened very suddenly, leaving me in total disbelief. My heart is completely shattered. Devastated. Why him?! Why so soon?! He was still so young. So much ahead. After 34 years as an elementary teacher, his dream for retirement was to move and live near the ocean. We visited Oregon, and he fell in love with its beauty. How the pine trees meet the ocean. Rivers and lakes all over the place. My love chose a small bay town. We put everything we had into what we chose to be our forever home. We packed, left California, and moved to Oregon. He loved looking out the back door and seeing the morning fog still lying on the ground. The deer strolling by the house. The flock of wild turkeys on the road. There is so much he still wanted to explore. My love was still young. He had the biggest heart. He was very compassionate. Always thinking of others. What he could do to help those he saw in need. We had just started our lives here in Oregon together, with so many plans for our future. Now suddenly, I’m in this nightmare I can’t wake up from. It’ll be a couple of months before paperwork is sorted and I’ll be able to cover our mortgage and expenses. Any help would be a blessing.
