Help Neal & Beverly Ard Through a Medical Crisis
Neal and Beverly Ard have always faced life together with faith, resilience, and deep love for family. They met in 2013 and were married in 2015. Between them, they share a beautiful blended family of six adult children—three sons and three daughters—as well as one grandson and ten granddaughters.
Their lives changed dramatically in the spring of 2022 when Beverly was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare and serious neurological disorder in which the immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system. The condition caused rapid muscle weakness, numbness, and loss of mobility, requiring urgent medical treatment and a long, difficult recovery. Although Beverly survived, she continues to experience severe, long-term effects from the illness.
As a result, Beverly was forced to leave her job as a Billing Specialist for Journeys DDA in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She received no severance package or employment benefits, placing an immediate financial strain on the family. During this same period, Neal—who worked as a City Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Rexburg, Idaho—was experiencing serious heart rhythm issues and seeking treatment.
After a long and difficult process, Beverly was approved for disability benefits, which was a blessing. However, in April of 2025, Neal experienced a life-threatening episode of ventricular tachycardia. He was hospitalized and required the implantation of a defibrillator/pacemaker to regulate his heart and save his life.
Following several months of recovery, Neal attempted to return to work, but it became clear that balancing his own health needs while caring for Beverly was no longer possible. After 32 years of service, Neal officially retired from the USPS on October 31, 2025, to focus on his health and his wife’s care.
November 2025 would prove to be the greatest challenge of their lives.
On November 11, 2025, Beverly was hospitalized with a serious illness in which her liver function had ceased. She was later discharged to a skilled nursing facility for 30 days of rehabilitation, but showed little to no improvement and became bedridden. On November 21, 2025, Neal’s mother passed away after a prolonged illness. The emotional toll was overwhelming, and shortly thereafter Neal suffered another ventricular tachycardia episode—his implanted device shocked his heart back into rhythm and saved his life.
Determined to care for his wife at home, Neal brought Beverly home on December 31, 2025, with home health services in place. He provided around-the-clock care until January 25, 2026, when Beverly had to be rehospitalized after developing pneumonia.
Today, Beverly remains hospitalized and is fighting for her life. Since November 11, 2025, Neal and Beverly’s world has been completely turned upside down—emotionally, physically, and financially.
We are asking for help to support Neal and Beverly with mounting medical bills, living expenses, travel costs, and basic necessities as they navigate this unimaginable season. Any contribution—no matter the size—will help ease their burden and allow Neal to focus on caring for Beverly and managing his own health.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser and keeping Neal and Beverly in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support.
