The leadership of our national unions at this time are not just critical, but essential to our labor union future.

When making the decision to run for the position of the National Education Association Vice President, I asked myself three questions….

Am I the right person, at the right time, for this role?

If the answer to all three of these was yes, I would begin to talk to rank and file members, local union leaders, and my national colleagues to listen to what they wanted in a national leader.

I answered yes to all three, and it is with honor and excitement that I get the opportunity to share why I am the best candidate for NEA Vice President.

As an experienced organizer, a proud professional veteran educator, and democratically elected local and state-wide leader, I have learned from, worked with, and led amazing, courageous people who work daily to ensure that our future is one based on opportunity for all of us to thrive.

Living and working in a state that is anti-union, pro-privitization, and committed to limiting the voices of educators and marginalized communities, there is a path to win.

It starts with local organizing campaigns that lead to self-determined issue campaigns, asking the members for what they are willing to fight for and supporting them in that fight.

The members of NEA are not scared, weak or apathetic… they are exploited, disrespected, and like every worker in America, in shock at how our current system has little to no regard for the health, safety and sucess of the majority of our country.

The members of NEA, like me, are ready for their national union to move with urgency and bravery, to be a transformational force in these times, and to work diligently to not get back what we have lost, but to build an educational system that serves our students and the workers that have committed their lives to our beloved profession.

With my experience, proven successes, and commitment to building power from within our local unions, I made the decision to run for NEA Vice President.

I know that we, the NEA, can create a future built for us by us.

Because, it is up to us … No one is coming to save us but us.

Your donation will help fund a campaign to visit as many states as possible to talk to as many NEA members and potential members to LISTEN to our unions greatest strength, our rank and file members. To ask them what they need to be strong and successful, to ask them what we, the NEA, should be doing to invest in powerful local unions.
