Hello! My name is Jill Guyton Nee and I am a freelance choreographer in the Raleigh area of North Carolina. I am beyond excited to present my first work in NC after 10 years of living in Tennessee and choreographing and presenting around the states and internationally.

The work is titled "Arcturus" after the Red Giant star of the same name. This visually stunning, evocative work explores the life and death of a star through a cosmos of vigorous physicality and powerful ensembleship with a large group of professional dancers from the Triangle area. Although the work is a reconstruction, the new cast will spend physically demanding rehearsals learning the choreography and providing their own individual artistry to make the work feel new. The new version will present for the North Carolina Dance Festival on November 1, 2024.

Please consider donating to the work so that these dancers are paid for their hard work and labor to bring this beautiful recreation and reimagination to life! All proceeds go straight to the performers, and assist in costuming.

About the choreographer: Jill Guyton Nee is a North Carolina based choreographer and dance teaching artist. Her work has been presented in Thailand and throughout the United States. Creatively, she has worked with several distinguished choreographers including Mark Dendy, David Dorfman, Bebe Miller, Susan Hadley, Gaspard Louis, Shane O’Hara, Erin Carlisle Norton, and Carol Finley. She earned her BA in dance and BS in business management from Meredith College. After graduating, she joined the full-time staff at American Dance Festival, was a collaborative member of the former company Even Exchange Dance Theatre and served on the Board of Directors for Code f.a.d. Company before attending The Ohio State University Department of Dance for her MFA. As a teaching artist, Jill served as the Head of Dance and an Associate Professor for the University of Memphis Department of Theatre & Dance for ten years, taught at several college dance festivals, and choreographed in the private studio sector for more than two decades.

Thank you!
