PURPOSE OF FUNDRAISER
I’m making this fundraiser to raise money to complete my Medical School journey at St George’s University (SGU), Grenada. I started SGU in January 2022 and I have successfully completed my first year of medical school. I am an international student and I unfortunately do not qualify for federal or private loans as I am currently schooling outside of the United States.
ABOUT ME
I graduated from Canisius College, and acquired my Bachelor’s of Science in Biology in 2019. After graduation, I spent 2 years working as a Medical Assistant. During that time, I confirmed my love for medicine and discovered my purpose in life. I worked with doctors and nurses to provide healthcare to patients. My experience as a Medical Assistant was very fulfilling. I applied for medical school and was accepted into St George’s University starting in January 2022. My sister; Nelo was also accepted into SGU School of Medicine in August 2022.
My parents have been able to support my sister and I through the first year of medical school. Unfortunately, things have been difficult for my family and there are a lot of financial constraints. We currently need support to continue our journeys at SGU. I have tried looking up loan options but I do not qualify for any as I am an international student. I have also tried Private loans but they require me to be schooling in the United States and have a co-signer.
At the moment, our school accounts have been put on hold, because our parents have not been able to complete the payment of our next semester’s tuition fees which is $38,000. We are currently unsure of continuing our studies without financial assistance since our parents are both facing unanticipated financial hardships.
FUTURE PLANS
After getting my Medical Degree, I plan on completing my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. I want to advocate for women and provide the best possible treatment services.
Please help Nelo and I continue our Medical journeys. We have had the dream of being doctors since we were children and any contribution would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your anticipated support.
