Hi, I'm Nava Scott.

I'm a middle school student at Dumbarton Middle School. I'm having my Bat Mitzvah soon, and for my mitzvah project, ( drum roll please... ) A COMMUNITY MURAL! A mitzvah project is something that a person would do before their bat/bar mitzvah as a positive contribution to the planet, community, or other group. In other words, it is a benefit to the well-being of the world.

When I was trying to decide what to do for my mitzvah project, I was having a bit of difficulty deciding. Art? Nature? Why not do both? Both have an effect on the brain that calms anxiety and stress. They are also two of my favorite things.

In the summer and fall of 2026, I, along with members of my community, will create a beautiful mural which will be installed on a wall of my middle school. The space is a peaceful area with many trees all around. It is also by the bike rack where many students park their bikes every day.

In the event that we raise more money than is needed for this project, any surplus will be donated to the Baltimore-based organization Art With A Heart.
