Hello everyone,

I am a friend of Naung Latt’s family, and I am setting up this GoFundMe page on their behalf with their permission.

Naung Latt was detained during an ICE enforcement action in Minnesota on the morning of January 12, 2026. Naung lives in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with his wife and their one-year-old daughter. The family came to the United States following the military coup and ongoing civil conflict in their home country and currently hold legal status in the United States along with work authorization.

Naung has been working to support his family, actively attending church, and has been deeply involved in raising his daughter.

After his detention, Naung was transferred to a detention facility in Texas while his case continued through the legal process. Following multiple rescheduled hearings, bond was set on February 11 and approved on February 17.

We are grateful to share that Naung Latt was released at approximately 1:30 PM on February 18 and is currently staying at a shelter. He is expected to return to Minnesota tomorrow night to reunite with his family.

The family is incredibly thankful for the support, prayers, and generosity they have already received — especially from MN Lisu Church of Jesus, the church community, The Urban Village, the MN Rapid Response Team, the school community, and everyone who has stood alongside them during this time. Because of this support, the bond, initial legal fees, and travel expenses were able to be covered.

However, Naung’s case is not over. His release marks the beginning of the next stage of the legal process, which requires continued legal representation and related legal expenses.

This fundraiser is intended to help support the upcoming legal expenses and assist the family as they navigate the next stage of this process together.
