We are raising funds for NAU Formula SAE, Northern Arizona University’s student-led Formula SAE engineering team.
This season marks our fourth year competing, and our team is building on three years of prior experience as we develop our next vehicle, MRK 4. Each season has given us new lessons in design, manufacturing, testing, teamwork, and competition, and MRK 4 represents the next step in the growth of our program.
Our goal is not simply to build another race car. We want to design, manufacture, test, and develop a vehicle that reflects everything we have learned over the past three years while giving our current students the opportunity to apply engineering in a way that cannot be replicated in a classroom.
Formula SAE challenges university students to take a Formula-style race car from an idea to a functioning vehicle. Throughout the process, our members gain hands-on experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, machining, electronics, testing, project management, teamwork, and motorsports.
Every component presents a new challenge, and every problem we encounter becomes an opportunity to learn.
Why We Need Your Support
Building a Formula SAE car is a major undertaking, and one of our biggest challenges is funding.
The costs of raw materials, components, manufacturing, replacement parts, testing, transportation, and competition expenses add up quickly. Our team depends heavily on fundraising, sponsorships, and support from our community to turn our designs into a vehicle we can actually bring to the track.
Funds raised through this campaign will directly support areas including:
- Engine and drivetrain development
- Frame and chassis materials
- Suspension components
- ECU, electronics, and sensors
- Raw materials and manufacturing
- Replacement and maintenance parts
- Vehicle testing and development
- Transportation and competition expenses
Building the Car Is Only the Beginning
One of the most important parts of this project happens after the car is assembled.
We need the resources and time to test the vehicle, identify failures, make adjustments, improve reliability, and understand how our designs perform in real conditions. Proper testing gives us the opportunity to solve problems before competition while giving our members some of the most valuable engineering experience of the entire project.
Our objective is to arrive at competition with more than a finished car. We want to arrive with a vehicle that has been built, tested, refined, and understood by the students who created it.
Become Part of MRK 4
We also want the people who support this project to feel like they are part of it.
As a thank-you to our community, donor names may be displayed directly on MRK 4, space permitting. Final placement and formatting will depend on the vehicle’s design and available space, and donors who prefer to remain anonymous will always have that option.
When MRK 4 reaches competition, we want it to represent not only the students who designed and built it, but also the community that helped make the project possible.
Every Donation Moves Us Forward
Every contribution makes a difference.
Whether you donate $10, $25, $50, $100, or more, your support helps us purchase materials, manufacture components, test our designs, solve problems, and move MRK 4 one step closer to the starting line.
By supporting NAU Formula SAE, you are doing more than helping students build a race car.
You are investing in future engineers and automotive professionals. You are giving students the opportunity to take calculations, CAD models, and ideas and turn them into something real. You are helping us learn through success, failure, redesign, teamwork, and the experience of building something together from the ground up.
As we enter our fourth year of Formula SAE competition, we are excited to apply three years of experience toward building MRK 4, continue improving as a team, and proudly represent Northern Arizona University.
Thank you for supporting NAU Formula SAE and helping us turn MRK 4 from a design into something we can take to the track.
