Hi, thanks for taking the time to visit my crowdfunding page. My name is Natalie Williams and I am currently working towards qualifying to compete in Karate at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after 30 years of practising the sport.
I have been a member of the England National Team for almost 20 years and I am proud to have won multiple World and European medals, over 25 English and British titles and the World University Championships twice.
I was introduced to Karate by my dad, who has run a small karate club in Beckenham, South London since 1976. The 2020 Olympics will be the first time in history that Karate will feature as a sport in the Olympic games programme, and after decades of working, training and competing to be the best fighter I can be, I am determined to represent my family and Great Britain at this historic event, which will bring the sport home to its origins of Japan

The majority of my opposition are full-time athletes, whereas I have been self-funded since 2006 and have have tried my best to balance a full-time professional career with training and competing at an elite level
To achieve my Olympic goal, I must do everything in my power to give me the best chance of qualifying for the games. This includes leaving my current full time job at UK Music (the industry's trade body) at the end of November to focus on training full time.
The next 7 months are an integral part of the qualification process for the Olympics, as many of the competitions are being held all over the world. On average, a competition in Europe alone can cost upwards of £800 to attend, with competitions in different continents costing between £1100 - £1500.
So far, I have been fortunate enough to have the support of many professionals, who are currently working pro bono to support my dream. Once I start to train full-time, I will need help covering the cost of competitions, equipment and day-to-day expenses, so I have set up this crowdfunding page for anyone who is interested in helping me.
If you want to learn more about the programme leading up to the Olympics or the team behind me, I have included information on all of this below, as well as details on how to follow my Olympic journey. Otherwise, you can find the link to donate just to the right of the screen.
Any support that can be provided will be appreciated and make a great difference to helping me achieve my dream.
Thank you
Natalie
