Hey dears!! Welcome to Nat’s Cancer Fun Run!
Here it is. Gettin' real y'all. Historically, I've run marathons for other causes, but this time around it's for little old me (and our kiddos). I’m happy to announce that on Nov. 16th I’m running a half marathon in beautiful Malibu California, just a stone’s throw from the shores where I grew up.
It didn’t start out as a fundraiser, but instead as a way to reacquaint myself with my body and get moving again, and then it took on a life of its own.
I know times are incredibly rough for many right now, so no pressure to give. (SNAP relief first. Our children are not food insecure).
That said, it is a fundraiser for Griff, Hazel, and Zeph’s future and
I am worried that Wendy will have to shoulder that alone around one of these bends ahead. (Hopefully, far far down the proverbial road). Any funds raised will go directly to their 529 college accounts to accumulate by the time they need 'em in 9-12 years.
Running has always been good medicine for me, and this season of cancer is no different. Each time I, often reluctantly, tie up my laces, and head out - the world greets me with so many small joys - little free libraries, smiles from strangers, botanical bounty, quiet of mind, inspiration. And at the end, I'm sweaty and grateful every time.
Ok, off to run!
So much love,
Nat
Ps. Please excuse the ridiculous suggested donation amounts - I tried to disengage it but failed. Alas, any amounts add up! xo
