Help a 14-Year-Old Fight for His Life
Our community is facing something no family should ever have to endure. This GoFundMe is to raise $20,000 to help cover critical medical expenses for Natia, a 14-year-old boy who is currently hospitalized and fighting for his life.
Natia is my son’s friend and teammate—a 6’7”, kind-hearted kid with a bright future in basketball and football. Right now, instead of being on the court, he is battling fungal meningitis and pneumonia in the hospital.
This past year has already been incredibly hard for him and his mother, Ellen. As a single mom, Ellen was financially, emotionally, and mentally recovering from the loss of her father last year. During that time, she used all of her paid sick leave to care for family. Just last week, she attempted to return to work for the first time—only to be faced with every parent’s nightmare. Her son’s condition worsened, and his cries for his mom to stay by his side forced her to take a now unpaid leave, as she has no paid time left.
To make matters worse, their medical insurance is refusing to cover the medication Natia needs to survive. One of the primary medications required to treat his fungal meningitis costs $3,000–$4,000 per month, and that does not include the additional medications needed for his cavitary pneumonia.
This mother has sacrificed everything—for her son’s athletic dreams, for her father’s final days, and to keep her household together as a single parent. This sudden and devastating illness has left her emotionally drained and financially overwhelmed, through no fault of her own.
No parent should ever have to choose between their home, their job, and their child’s life.
We are asking our community to come together and help ease this burden. Any donation—big or small—will go directly toward medical bills, life-saving medications, and basic living expenses while Ellen remains by Natia’s side.
Please consider donating, sharing, and keeping this family in your prayers.
They need us. He needs us.
God bless, and thank you for your support.
