Hi everyone, my name is Nathan, and I recently suffered a serious ankle injury while playing my first soccer game in over 3 years. Unfortunately, I sustained four fractures along with significant ligament and tendon damage which required surgery and will involve a long recovery.
If you know me, you'd know that I often try to handle things on my own, so asking for support like this is definitely outside of my comfort zone.
Back in February, I started working as new graduate physiotherapist in mobile aged care, which relies on me being able to drive and stay on my feet throughout the day. I also work as a sports trainer for a local footy club. Because of these injuries, I am unable to work for at least 3 months, as I can't drive or safely do my job while I am recovering.
Since I’ve only recently transitioned from a student into the workforce, I haven’t had the chance to build up enough leave to support myself during this time. Alongside rent and everyday living expenses, I'm now also facing the costs of the surgery, medical appointments, and physiotherapy over the coming months.
For the next 6 weeks I'll have no income, followed by significantly reduced income after that. I unfortunately do not qualify for the club's insurance as I had only been down to 1 training session prior to this preseason game and hadn't yet registered.
I am asking for any support that may ease the financial burden of this incident so that I can focus on making a full recovery. This would help immensely during this uncertain time and allow me to return to work and sport without added financial pressure.
Any donation or even sharing the page would mean a lot to me. I know it is a difficult time for many people right now, so I'm incredibly grateful for any support.
Thank you so much,
Nathan
