Stroke Recovery: Nathan and Luke's Reunion
Donation protected
My name is Nathan Walter, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and a deep hope for compassion.
In February, I suffered my second stroke. While doctors called it “minor,” it’s had a major impact on my life. I’m currently living in my car, fighting to recover through occupational, physical, and speech therapy. I used to play guitar effortlessly—now, my brain remembers the notes, but my fingers no longer follow. It's a daily struggle just to feel like myself again.
What’s been hardest of all is being separated from my emotional support animal, Luke Sky Walter. Luke is a stunning Bombay cat with a gentle soul who’s been my rock through the most difficult times in my life. He’s more than a pet—he’s my family, my calm, my reason to keep going.
Due to my health and financial hardship, I can’t keep him with me right now. I’m still waiting for SSI benefits because I’m no longer able to work, and every day apart from Luke feels like another piece of me slipping away.
I’m humbly asking for help to cover the basic costs of survival—shelter, food, medical needs—and, most importantly, to bring Luke back home to me. With your support, I can create a stable, safe environment where we can be together again and continue healing—this time, with hope and with him by my side.
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. Thank you for reading, for sharing, and for helping me fight to hold onto what matters most.
