Support Nathan's Recovery After Neck Injury
Donation protected
My little brother Nathan was in a horrific swimming accident the night of June 17th. He dove into a pool and hit the bottom, breaking his neck and shattering his C5 vertebrae putting pressure on his spinal cord and paralyzing him from the nipples down. He was rushed to Jevon Bea hospital in Rockford by ambulance, and from there he was Air lifted to UW Madison in Wisconsin. He underwent a 6 hour surgery where they removed the shattered vertebrae and stabilized his neck to take the pressure off of his spinal cord. He was on a breathing tube with 100% oxygen due to aspiration. Around 4:30am, they were able to lower the oxygen to 60%. The doctors came in and tried mobility exercises but he was unable to squeeze his hands, move his fingers and still can't move any part of his body from his nipples down.
Nathan will be in the hospital until he is able to go to an acute rehabilitation center for intense physical therapy. We are hoping and praying that he will get some movement back, atleast in his arms.
