Support Nathan's Journey to Overcome Aphasia

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,

We are writing to inform you of a need to support Nathan and Elissa Satter so they can attend a specialized treatment for a severe language disability caused by a stroke he suffered a little over a year ago. They have an exciting opportunity to attend a month long rehabilitation program at the University of Montana starting May 30th where he will receive intensive treatment for aphasia, a condition that makes it difficult to both speak and understand language. However, the program is not covered by insurance. In addition, they will need to cover their transportation and housing costs while in Montana while their two kids, Maddie and Ben, remain at home in Oregon. The program will cost $3000 plus their living expenses.

Nathan and Elissa are both excited to get this specialized treatment offered by the Big Sky Aphasia Program at the University of Montana. It is a unique, immersive program designed to help individuals like Nathan rebuild their communication abilities and regain their independence. Led by dedicated graduate students under the guidance of experienced clinicians, the Big Sky Aphasia Program provides tailored speech therapy sessions four days a week, each lasting seven hours. These sessions encompass a wide range of evidence-based interventions, including individual and group therapy, cognitive-linguistic exercises, and social communication activities.

Participants in the program not only receive high-quality therapy but also benefit from the supportive and nurturing environment fostered by the university community. Moreover, the program emphasizes real-world communication skills, helping individuals like Nathan apply their newly acquired abilities in everyday situations.

We've launched this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to cover the expenses associated with Nathan's participation in the Big Sky Aphasia Program at the University of Montana. Your generous contributions will go directly towards covering the program fees, accommodation costs, and any additional expenses related to Nathan's participation in this transformative program.

Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your networks. Together, we can make a profound difference in Nathan's life and empower him to reclaim his voice and independence.

With heartfelt gratitude,

The Satter Family
