Support Nathan’s Fight and Family’s Urgent Needs
Hi friends and family,
Many of you already know the battle the Lawson family is in. On May 23, 2025, what they thought was a simple check-up for Nathan’s unexpected weight loss and loss of appetite turned into the fight of their lives. His blood pressure was dangerously high, his D-Dimer levels were triple what they should be, and after hours in the ER and a CT scan, the doctor sat down and delivered the words that changed everything: Nathan has two masses — one in his pancreas and one in his liver.
In June of 2025, he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. It began as low grade, but has turned aggressive.
They have four precious kids at home who need their dad. Nathan is holding tightly to Exodus 14:14 — “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still” — and Isaiah 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Kim is finding comfort in hymns like “It Is Well” and “Be Thou My Vision.” They are in THE battle of their lives, but they know the One who fights for them.
On top of the cancer fight, the Lawsons were facing a critical home emergency that they could no longer ignore: their septic system was failing badly and on the verge of collapse. Every time they tried to wash laundry — which, with four kids and a sick husband, was constant — the lower level of their house was in danger of flooding. Sometimes it flooded, sometimes it didn’t. Repairing the septic wasn’t an option, as the city would not approve it. They desperately needed to demolish the old septic tank and convert the entire house to the public sewer system.
Thanks to your incredible generosity, the septic conversion to public sewer is now possible. Your donations have lifted this massive burden, allowing the family to move forward with the demolition, conversion, permits, and necessary work. Kim and Nathan are so deeply grateful — your support has brought real relief and hope during an already overwhelming time.
With the sewer issue being addressed, they have also received a quote for additional essential household repairs to keep the home safe and functional long-term.
The work includes:
• Roof Replacement — complete tear-off of the old roof, replacement of any damaged roof decking, adding drip edge around the perimeter (tucked under the gutter guards), and reinstalling the gutter guards.
• Siding Repair — repairing the damaged siding around the house where wood rot has occurred.
The total for this quote, which includes various other repairs, is $25,166.
These repairs are critical to prevent further water damage and structural issues.
Above all, the family’s deepest desire is to secure a solid, reliable house for Kim and the kids — a safe and stable home they can count on if the worst were to happen in Nathan’s battle. Your continued support helps make that security possible, so they can focus on healing, faith, and family without the constant weight of these issues.
This does not include the fact that this spring, they were originally slated to replace their mini van. It is a 2007, has over 260K miles on it, one of the bucket seats won’t sit up, and both sliding doors are damaged. The left sliding door is completely unusable, and will literally fall off the van if it is unlocked and opened.
They hate asking, but with Nathan fighting for his life and the family already stretched so thin, they simply cannot manage this on their own right now.
Your prayers have carried them. Your encouragement, donations, and tangible help have made them feel so loved. If the Lord puts it on your heart to continue helping remove these remaining burdens so they can focus on Nathan’s healing and caring for their kids, they would be forever grateful.
Any amount helps. Sharing the campaign helps even more.
They are trusting the same God who is fighting for Nathan to provide for this need as well. Even in this trial, He is still good.
Thank you from the bottom of their hearts,
Kim, Nathan, and their four kids
