June 28, 2025 has changed Louise and Joey's lives forever.
Nathan's mom, Louise took him to be seen. The ultrasound revealed a substantial ruptured mass on his right kidney. Nathan was immediately brought by ambulance to Boston Children's Hospital for further evaluation. After conducting MRIs, CT scans, Bloodwork and repeat ultrasounds, Nathan has been diagnosed with Wilm's kidney cancer.
Nathan went in for surgery today, June 30th to biopsy the mass for further understanding of his prognosis and the stage of his cancer. Right now, what we do know is he will ultimately need chemotherapy because of the ruptured mass, which disperses the cancer cells throughout his body and potentially causes the cancer to present somewhere else.
Despite these grim details, Nathan is a happy, vivacious little boy and he is ready to fight.
The Drifmeyer family needs your help, now more than ever. Despite the devastating news that has made their world come to a halt, their life expenses do not. The unpreceded road ahead requires both Louise and Joey time away from their careers to care for Nathan. This will significantly impact them financially. Please consider helping Nathan keep his parents close during this vulnerable time.
