Help Nathan Fight Ulcerative Colitis & Stay Strong for His Son
Hi, my name is Traci, and I'm starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my cousin, Nathan Cooper, a devoted father, beloved friend, and one of the most generous souls you’ll ever meet. Right now, Nathan is in the fight of his life against severe Ulcerative Colitis, a debilitating chronic illness that has brought him to the brink, both physically and financially.
Nathan was admitted to the hospital on March 5th in critical condition. His hemoglobin levels had dropped so dangerously low that doctors told him he would not have made it another two weeks. He required 6 to 7 blood transfusions and just as many iron infusions to stabilize. Though he’s now out of immediate danger, he’s still deep in the weeds of this illness, trying to manage pain levels as high as 9 out of 10, and fighting to recover some semblance of normalcy for himself and his young son, Oliver.
Nathan is undergoing Remicade infusions, a life-saving but extraordinarily expensive treatment that costs nearly $96,000 a year. Even with insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are staggering and growing. He’s now facing over $25,000 in uncovered medical expenses, and that number will only continue to climb over the next 30+ months.
This illness has robbed Nathan of his mobility, his ability to work, and at times, even his ability to leave the house. Everyday activities like driving, grocery shopping, or going to a public place become nearly impossible. Still, Nathan keeps fighting, with courage, grace, and an unrelenting focus on protecting Oliver from the burden of all this.
If you know Nathan, you know this: he's always the first to show up for others, but never asks for help himself. Right now, he needs our help more than ever.
We’re asking for donations to help cover:
• Medical bills and Remicade infusions
• Hospital stays and emergency care
• Daily living expenses while he’s unable to work
• Support for Oliver during this incredibly difficult time
Any amount helps. Truly. And if you can’t donate right now, please consider sharing this campaign with your network. Nathan has given so much to others, and it’s time for us to rally around him and give back.
Thank you for your love, your support, and for helping keep Nathan and Oliver safe, housed, and hopeful.
With gratitude,
Traci (and Team Nathan)
