Support Nathan Watts' Fight Against Cancer

My name is Kim Muir and I am starting this fundraiser for my son in law Nathan Watts. On June 10, 2024, Nathan was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer with invasion into the bladder. We knew Nathans cancer was aggressive but had no idea how aggressive. After meeting with a GI surgeon, immediately he was scheduled for surgery on June 20th. They ended up stopping his surgery mid procedure due to how invaded his bladder had become. This was devasting news as we thought this was a "get it all" surgery and get started back to a normal life.

After meeting with a team of 3 different oncologists, a treatment plan for Nathan was set up to begin chemotherapy. He received one treatment but due to life threatening infections, he had surgery on July 22 to place a colostomy bag. This will remain in place until a later surgery for a colon resection and possible removal of part or his entire bladder. This could result in a permanent urostomy bag.

Nathan has also found out that he carries a genetic disorder that puts him at high risk for any cancer, anywhere in his body in the future. Nathans treatment has changed due to these new findings, and he will start immunotherapy hopefully soon. However, this continues to be pushed back due to insurance denying the treatment drug.

At this point insurance is still denying him of this treatment. Therefore, we are finding other ways to pay for his treatments.

We are asking for help for Nathan and his family to raise money for the treatments and medical costs thus far, and for the future as he continues this long, heavy battle with cancer. We know that this will include multiple surgeries, along with continued immunotherapy treatments before and after the surgeries.
