I’m hoping to raise funds for my BIL Nathan Garza and his wife Jaci Garza.

On Saturday, June 22nd Nathan had a stroke caused by a blockage in his basilar artery at the base of his brain.

What was a life-threatening stroke was fortunately caught and corrected in the golden window of time that he had to both preserve his life but also to leave him with a shot at full recovery, in time.

The road ahead is fraught with challenges - and medical bills! (add sad ‘yay!” + broken kazoo sound)

The Garzas and all of their family and friends are thankful and grateful for the life-saving medical services Nathan received, but even with good medical coverage, those don’t come cheap. Their out-of-pocket in-network max is $11,000 and we’re certain that the bills will hit that much and more (don’t know yet how much out-of-network care was rendered after ‘emergency’ status was lifted) — plus, Nathan will be out of work for a little while, as he works on rehabbing his vision and some other neurological slowness he has to bounce back from. His company offers short-term and long-term disability coverage, but it only pays about 60% of his salary.

Close friends and fam may also know/recall that Jaci and Nathan lost their car earlier this year when they were rear-ended in some bad weather. So financially, this is a tough time for them.

All help - great and small - is a blessing and so very appreciated. Let’s give what we can to help get them through this time. Nathan needs to focus on his recovery and getting back to 100% — and we don’t need financial stress mucking that up in any way!
