Over the last couple of months, my husband, Nate, had been experiencing issues with his vision, noticing blurriness and fading in his right eye. After attending numerous doctors appointments, he was directed by his ophthalmologist to the ER to get an MRI. There, it was discovered he had a tumor lodged within the ventricles of his brain. He was admitted to the hospital and surgery took place a few days later to remove the tumor. He is now recovering, but he faces many trials ahead due to the inflammation of his brain.

Before surgery, Nate was completely independent. He could walk, run, workout, dance, goof around, make jokes, multitask—all the things we take for granted in our everyday lives. Now, he has little ability to move the entire left side of his body and is struggling with his cognitive processing. While he is beginning to show signs of improvement, it will take months of therapy to get him back to the way he was before. My husband is only 33 years old and has never needed any sort of serious medical attention before. The only time he ever went to the ER in his life was when he was 6 to get stitches. He tries not to show it, but I know this experience is weighing on him physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

Nate is the best human being I know, and anyone else who has had the privilege to know him shares this sentiment.
