Nathanael (Nate) Sparks is a leukemia survivor, first diagnosed with AML at just 17 years old. He fought hard and beat cancer, but the long-term effects led to end-stage renal disease. For the past year, Nate has been doing dialysis while continuing to work, showing incredible strength and determination.
On March 13th, 2026, Nate will receive a life-saving kidney transplant at Cedars-Sinai, thanks to the incredible gift from his sister, Shaughan, who is donating her kidney. Nate plans to work right up until the week before surgery, but recovery will bring major financial challenges. He will need to travel from Ventura to Los Angeles multiple times each week for post-transplant care, labs, and monitoring to give his new kidney the best chance to succeed.
Nate will be applying for SSI after transplant, which provides only a very minimal monthly amount and can take months to be approved. His girlfriend will be his full-time caregiver after surgery and will miss significant work, adding further financial strain. We are raising funds to help cover travel, lodging, parking, medical-related expenses, and basic living costs during recovery so Nate can focus fully on healing. Any amount truly helps. If you cannot donate, prayers, love, and sharing this page are deeply appreciated. Thank you for standing with Nate.
