My name is Natasha Gaspard, and I never imagined that along with my Emmy award, my role as a natural hair care advocate and founder of Mane Moves Media, I would also add 'breast cancer survivor' to my list of accomplishments. Just a few weeks ago, I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, and despite the shock, I'm claiming the title of 'survivor' as I move forward into treatment.
My journey to this point began with a deep passion for natural hair care. I founded Mane Moves Media to share not just hair care tips but also to explore the broader intersections of beauty, health, culture, and identity. I believed that by embracing our natural hair, we could heal generations of trauma. This journey inspired me to believe in myself, but behind the scenes, I battled feelings of unworthiness and self-doubt, which I now understand have contributed to the dis-ease in my body. This diagnosis is an opportunity for me to explore different ways to heal by focusing on myself—something I've poured into everything and everyone around me but neglected in myself.
My medical oncologist has suggested I have a lumpectomy, scheduled for May 30, 2024, along with chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy, and pill therapy. While these treatments are essential in Western medicine's approach to targeting and attacking the tumor, I am concerned about the potential negative effects of these carcinogenic chemicals on my body. To mitigate these effects and support my overall well-being, I am seeking to complement these treatments with naturopathic medicines. These holistic approaches offer a more comprehensive healing strategy that aligns with my belief in addressing the root cause of illness and promoting overall health.
Your donations will cover the costs of these additional life-giving naturopathic treatments, living expenses, and documentation of my treatment process. This includes traveling to different cities/states to receive treatments over the course of the next year to 18 months. I understand the power of telling your own story and have been sharing my journey with this diagnosis from the very beginning. By sharing this journey, I hope to provide insight and inspiration to others facing similar challenges, demonstrating the power of holistic approaches in cancer care.
I am asking everyone reading this to consider supporting me on this journey to healing and wellness. Any amount of money you are willing to contribute is absolutely appreciated. As a special thank you to those donating $100 or more, you will receive a special invitation to an in-person screening event with me in NYC this Fall! This event will feature the best in holistic and traditional medicine, featuring demos, fireside chats and recognition of the special people in my life. I am being called to something that is greater than me and through this experience I believe we can explore healthier ways to approach healing and wellness!
If you aren’t able to contribute money at this time, sharing this with your friends, family and community would be just as amazing! Thank you so very much for supporting me along my healing journey! With your support and by spreading the word we will open up new possibilities to health and wellness for all❤️
