I am Olena Mazurenko, a physician trained in Ukraine, currently residing in the United States. I want to help my friend from medical school, Natalya Tremba, who is a primary care physician in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Natalya is treating patients in a healthcare facility with no electricity, no heat, and no clean water (see photos). Along with her 100 medical staff, she is responsible for over 50,000 patients in Chernihiv. Chernihiv has been heavily bombed, leaving Natalya's facility without power and water. Despite these conditions, she and her medical staff continue working to care for patients—often by flashlight, in rooms barely above freezing. Ukraine's winter is fast approaching, and these conditions are expected to worsen.
Natalya's team is asking for donations to purchase portable lamps, small heaters, and warm clothing to care for patients during the upcoming winter. I have known Natalya for over twenty years and will personally transfer the funds to her. I trust her to use these funds to help her team. She will provide receipts and photos of her grateful team using these supplies.
A cost estimate for each item is below (based on the local prices):
- 1 portable lamp: $25
- Thermal gloves & socks for one staff member: $50
- 1 small room heater for an exam room: $100
Our goal is to raise $4,500 in the next month. Please donate and share this campaign—every contribution makes a difference.
