My name is Aimee Dorch. I am a Registered Nurse and a single mother of 2 children, Zachary (12) and Natalie (15).
My daughter Natalie was hospitalized on Nov 19, 2024 for 22 days. She started off sleeping all day, looking pale in color and feeling weak. I took her to the ER where she was admitted for anemia and GI bleed. Her hemoglobin was at a critically low number of 5. She received 2 blood transfusions, 17 bags of vitamin k, IV steroids and TPN (total parenteral nutrition) through a PICC line.
After she was discharged, the pain and suffering for my daughter did not end there. Since her discharge she has received another blood transfusion, an iron transfusion, continues to have rectal bleeding and lives with a hemoglobin of 8 as her new daily norm. She continues to feel weak, tired and has a pale color. She is only able to eat protein shakes and some bland food and has lost 20 pounds throughout this all.
Natalie is unable to participate in normal teenager activities due to all of these ongoing medical issues. Natalie is a strong girl with high spirits who continues to have one issue after another. She is currently continuing to go to several appointments every week, missing many days of school. Which means mom misses work to take her
Her treatments now include autoimmune medications and steroids, IV infusions and several oral medications to keep her electrolytes balanced.
On top of everything going on with Natalie, my son was sick all last year with Pneumonia and continues to see the pulmonologist. My mother has been sick and passed away just last week. I cannot catch a break! I am paying for everything on my own.
As everybody knows, medical bills can really pile up along with everyday expensed and I am feeling the pressure. I want to take my daughter and transfer her care completely to a more specialized GI doctor but the insurance company dose not cover the doctor and I cannot afford to switch her for good and curently appealing the insurance company. I need to take time off of work to fight for her and get her the best care but cannot due that with medical bills and the cost of everyday esentials to just survive.
Please help me raise money for my daughter to get the best care and hopefully get through this with no more pain and suffering.
