Our dear friend and colleague, Natalie Wormeli, is critically ill and hospitalized at Stanford.

 

It seems as though she is in septic shock from an agressive and sudden infection. Her prognosis likely depends whether they can kill the infection at its source and her body’s ability to withstand the trauma and respond to antibiotics despite her already weakened condition. 

 

Natalie's husband, Ben, has been commuting from their home in Davis and is trying to relocate to the Palo Alto area for the forseeable future.

 

As you may know, short-term rentals and hotesl are in that area are very expensive and very hard to find.

 

Amidst this horrible, ongoing pandemic, when we cannot safely visit Natalie and Ben, or bring him food, or do all the caring things we want to do in this kind of heart-breaking situation, something concrete that we can do is provide financial support to help ease their burden, if only a little.

 

I invite you to join me in contributing to this fundraiser. When asked if a Go Fund Me campaign for relocation/rental expenses would be helpful, Ben replied that if Natalie were awake, she would say "yes and thank you very much."
