At 11:08 pm on August 8th, I received a notification from Life 360 informing me that a crash was detected from Natalie’s phone. The only details were the location, that it was critical, and that emergency personnel were dispatched. Natalie went to stay with a friend in Emporia; they went to the fair, and on the drive home, something happened, and the car rolled, and both girls were ejected. Natalie was thrown on the gravel and has major cuts and scrapes loaded with gravel and glass wedged in them. Natalie was taken by ambulance to Newman Hospital and had a CT scan. The results of the CT scan indicated that she needed trauma care, and she was airlifted to Stormont Vail Hospital. After numerous scans and tests, the results were a concussion, a broken collarbone, her pelvis is fractured in three spots (one fracture will require surgery that is scheduled for August 11th), internal bleeding in the pelvic area, her bladder was punctured, there is an air pocket in her lung, and internal bruising. She will most likely remain in the hospital until Thursday or Friday. When she comes home, she is going to need some home health care as well as physical therapy and the medications she will require.

Brad, Natalie’s dad, recently took another job, so Natalie currently does not have health insurance. The insurance doesn’t begin until September 1st. He has also had to take time off work due to the accident and her surgery. I am asking for help paying her medical bills and the medical care she will need when she comes home.
