Support Natalia's Choreographic Debut & Hispanic Excellence

Hola, mi nombre es Natalia Nieves-Melchor, and I am so deeply humbled to be making my NYC choreographic debut with this year's Café Con Rumba dance event honoring and highlighting Hispanic excellence in dance and choreography. Today, I offer you the chance to support the gorgeous and inspiring Latino/e/x community here in NYC during this year's Hispanic Heritage Month!

I, along with a team of monstrously talented dancers, am developing a piece for this event. We all are volunteering our time and talent for a great cause, working for free to support this organization. While we are more than happy to donate our talents to this cause, I am raising money because I believe to my core that no dancer should put their body, vision, time, and integrity on the line without compensation, and I am eager to pay my volunteers a sum of money apropos of the inspiring work they are donating to this piece.

Furthermore, after paying the artists for their work, if I am blessed enough to meet my goal, I would be able to redistribute funds back into Café Con Rumba's operation, as well as write checks to other organizations that promote Latino/e/x excellence that are very important to me, such as R.Evolución Latina (check them out here !), Luis Salgado's non-profit organization dedicated to offering artistic opportunities and arts education to people of all ages and levels, administered by Latino/e/x master teachers, providing them opportunities to teach and enrich the communities from whence they came; and Dance Project of Washington Heights , a non-profit with whom I have the pleasure of working as a Program Manager, whose offerings include classes, outreach, and development at an accessible cost for families and children of all ages learning the art of dance. Cafe Con Rumba will be held on Friday, October 11th, at the Gibney: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center (280 Broadway) offering two shows, one at 6:30pm and one at 8:30pm. It would be great to see you all there to celebrate our beautiful community juntos!
