Hi, my name is Naomi, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my family during an incredibly difficult time. In the middle of the night, a water pipe suddenly burst in our home. It flooded the entire house— mainly ruining our living room, den, laundry room, and more. Everything happened so fast, and we were completely unprepared for the damage. We will have to move into a hotel room for a little while as extensive work will have to be done on our house. They will be replacing the flooring in every room in the house, as well as removing all our furniture, and we are unsure how long we will have to live elsewhere for the time being.

This emergency struck the night before I was supposed to take my dad to a long-awaited eye surgery appointment. He’s elderly and battling chronic illnesses like COPD and asthma, which already make everyday life challenging for him.

My mom is the heart of our household. She is an Indonesian woman who works tirelessly as a cashier at Walmart to provide for us, which is difficult at her age, but we simply don’t have the funds to cover the insurance deductible and the other unexpected costs this disaster has caused.
