I hope to attend the India Medical Mission to give back to the community while learning and growing alongside experienced clinicians. Observing and supporting healthcare providers who deliver care in resource-limited settings will allow me to develop practical clinical skills while strengthening my ability to work collaboratively within a team. My goal during this mission is to actively support patient care wherever needed while continuously learning throughout the experience.

As an ophthalmic assistant in Dallas, Texas, I have developed skills that I believe will be valuable during this mission trip. Working in a fast-paced, high patient-volume environment has strengthened my ability to adapt quickly, problem solve effectively and remain organized under pressure. These experiences have also enhanced my communication skills, enabling me to interact clearly and compassionately with patients despite time constraints. I am confident that these abilities will translate well into mission-based healthcare settings. I am particularly excited to observe how clinicians in Hyderabad utilize available time and resources to deliver high-quality care efficiently.

Beyond clinical exposure, I am eager to learn how healthcare providers prioritize infection control, disease prevention, and patient care while working with limited staff and supplies. Coming from a healthcare system in the United States that is largely insurance-based, I am especially interested in understanding how care is delivered and coordinated within India’s healthcare system. I hope to gain insights into teamwork, resource management, and preventive care approaches that I can carry forward in my own professional journey. Additionally, giving back to the community where my parents grew up makes this opportunity deeply meaningful on a personal level.

As I pursue a future career in healthcare and work toward becoming a physician, I hope to learn from clinicians across diverse healthcare systems to broaden my perspective on patient-centered care. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute, learn, and ultimately bring these experiences forward into my development as a compassionate healthcare professional.
