Help Nancy Find Relief From Debilitating Nerve Pain

I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my mom, Nancy. For more than a year, she has been living with something that has completely changed her life. She was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia and Glossopharyngeal Neuralgia, which are two conditions that cause severe nerve pain across the left side of her head. For my mom, the pain has become a constant part of her life. Brushing her hair, brushing her teeth, eating, talking, or even feeling a breeze from a fan or air conditioner triggers excruciating pain. After more than a year of fighting through this pain, my mom is scheduled to undergo urgent Microvascular Decompression (MVD) surgery in October in hopes of finally getting some relief and being able to return to a more normal life.

But unfortunately, this is only one part of the journey. My mom slipped while mopping and broke her ankle 2 years ago. She’s had lots of pain in her ankle since then, so once she has fully recovered from her brain surgery, she will also need another surgery to remove the screws and plate from her ankle.

Between these procedures, the recovery periods, and the ongoing pain she has been experiencing, my mom will not be able to work. Although she has health insurance, it does not cover everything, and the medical expenses are only part of the financial burden. She needs help covering everyday necessities such as food and household bills while she is unable to work.

My mom has spent her life taking care of and educating others. She worked for years as a school teacher and principal, dedicating her career to helping children learn and grow. She is one of the kindest, most patient, caring, and giving people I know. She is fun, full of life, loves karaoke, and has always been someone her family and friends can count on. One of the things I always joke with her about is that no matter where we go, she always runs into someone she knows. She has spent her life building relationships, helping people, and making others feel cared for, and now, I'm hoping that same community can come together for her.

My mom is a fighter and has fought through the past year of unimaginable pain from neuralgia, after already enduring a difficult recovery from breaking her ankle the year before. And now, she needs our help. We are hoping to raise $50,000 to help Nancy get through her surgeries and recovery without the additional stress of worrying about how she will pay her bills while she cannot work. The funds raised will help cover medical expenses, prescriptions, and hospital bills that are not covered by insurance, food, everyday household necessities, and living expenses while she is unable to work.
