My mother, Nancy, and my stepfather, Gilberto, along with five other families, were suddenly displaced after their apartment building was condemned due to severe structural issues. According to the inspector, the building could have collapsed at any moment. They were given just three hours to evacuate their home of many years.
In that short time, they gathered what they could, but had to leave behind many valuables and essentials. To make matters more difficult, both my mother and stepfather are currently out of work due to the summer school break.
My mother has been a dedicated employee of the Plainville school system for over 20 years and is also a pastor, faithfully serving her congregation and community. She and Gilberto are people of deep faith who have spent their lives helping others—now they are in need of a helping hand.
We are humbly asking for donations to help with emergency housing, basic needs, and relocation expenses. They do not have renters insurance, and unfortunately, the landlord and city have offered minimal assistance. Every dollar will go directly to Nancy and Gilberto, and any funds raised beyond our goal will be used to support the other five displaced families.
