Support Nana’s Courageous Cancer Fight

We are reaching out to ask for support for our grandmother Gail Cropley, who is bravely fighting multiple cancer diagnoses. It’s been a tough journey, and our family could really use some help—whether it’s through donations, sharing this page, or keeping her in your prayers.

On January 30, she was diagnosed with Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the mouth. She lives in Maine but was referred to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston due to the severity of her condition—about a four-hour drive each way. In reality, these trips often take 12 hours round-trip, adding significant physical, emotional, and financial stress.

After several consultations, she underwent an extremely complex inferior maxillectomy with reconstruction on May 2. The surgery, expected to take 8 hours, lasted over 12 due to the complexity of the procedure. She spent several days in the ICU and will remain hospitalized post ICU for at least 10 days, totaling about two weeks being hospitalized. Her recovery will involve frequent follow-up visits with in home PT and, once stable, 6–7 weeks of radiation therapy, five days a week.

As if that weren’t enough, she was recently diagnosed with endometrial and cervical cancer, and will need a hysterectomy after completing radiation. There’s also a spot on her lung that doctors are closely monitoring.

She is a devout Christian and a proud member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her faith is a deep source of strength for her, as it is for our entire family. She is the heart of our family—mother to three children, grandmother to six, and great-grandmother to five (with more on the way).

She is so special to us as she has always gone above and beyond to make every occasion special for us. From birthdays to school events, ball games to holiday gatherings—she is the grandmother who shows up with a smile and open arms. Her presence lights up every room, and she never hesitates to give her time, love, and support to those she cares about, and now she needs our help.

The medical bills, travel costs, lodging, food, and parking fees are becoming more than our family can manage alone. We’re asking if you could help us by simply helping spread the word, donating monetarily, or just sharing kind words, or prayers to help her with her fight.
