Support Nala's Urgent Hip Surgery

This is Nala, one of our dogs. She is one of 17 dogs (two litters two weeks apart) that needed homes in 2021. She is half Anatolian Shepherd, a quarter Maremma Sheep Dog, and a quarter Great Pyrenees . The cover photo is about a week after we adopted her in 2021, 60 lbs. The other photo is recent, 140 lbs.

She is a great dog, if you don't mind the constant shedding. However, going from 16 siblings to being alone was a big adjustment she didn't do well with. So we rescued Theo - and they get along famously. Play together, sleep together, roll in the mud together (mostly Nala). And run, run, run together. They have 2 acres that belong to them, half yard and half woods, plus a dog door so they can go in and out as they please.

Unfortunately, one issue that Anatolian and Pyrenees have in common is a high risk of hip problems. Nala needs hip surgery for her hip dysplasia that we cannot afford. About halfway through the day, she stops using her left hind leg, keeping it tucked up and off the ground despite the pain medications we give her every morning and evening. Without surgery, the pain will get worse until pain meds don't help enough and leaves her in constant agony, and she is just 4 years old as of last month. We are seeking funds for her surgery and after care.
