For the past seven years, Nala has been the dog everyone loves. Countless neighbors and friends who were once afraid of dogs have changed their minds after meeting her. Many others have watched her grow up through our social media and her own account. Nala has a special way of winning hearts with her gentle spirit, kisses, and nonstop tail wags.
Unfortunately, Nala was recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the gingiva, a rare type of bone cancer located in her lower jaw. She has already undergone surgery to remove the tumor, but her journey is far from over. While we are grateful to learn that the cancer is not as invasive as initially feared, she still faces a long road ahead.
Nala now needs a full-body CT scan, estimated at $4,500, to determine the next steps. Depending on the results, treatment may include jaw surgery (approximately $9,000) or radiation therapy (around $3,000 or more ), followed by chemotherapy, the cost of which we do not yet know.
We created this GoFundMe so that all the humans Nala has ever loved — the ones she’s given kisses, comfort, and endless tail wags to — can help us give her the treatment she deserves. Our current goal reflects the hope that we can proceed with the CT scan and radiation therapy, and we will adjust the amount if surgery becomes necessary.
