Support Nadya Spears' Critical Recovery
Donation protected
Hi friends, family, and loving strangers. I'm reaching out for monetary help for Nadya Spears and her family. Her mother and I have been close friends since our kids were little. I love this family very much! Nadya is spunky, smart, sweet, and downright gorgeous. Her energy is contagious! She was just getting started in her journey of life.
Here is her story.
A day after Nadya's 21st birthday, she and her boyfriend headed downtown Indianapolis for a birthday celebration. They had a hotel downtown, and no, they were not out at the bars. As young people do, they rented those BIRD scooters to zip around on. The ones that don't supply helmets and cause over 50,000 emergency visits a year (with head injuries being the #1 injury). They were crossing in a crosswalk, she had almost made it across, when a car hit her (partially) in the bus lane. She was lost en route to the hospital. By the Grace of God the EMTs were able to revive her. Somehow the hospital got her internal bleeding under control. Her injuries are critical and numerous. The worst being a severe head injury with a large brain bleed. A piece of her skull was removed to allow for swelling. She now has two external shunts to help control intracranial pressures. She remains on a ventilator for breathing. She has required a continuous plasma infusion with intermittent blood transfusions. If she survives this (Please God in Heaven) she will have to have her broken hips and multiple broken leg bones repaired. The bone that goes across your face below your eyes is also broken, and the surgical repairs for that will include multiple surgeries. Her hospital stay with rehabilitation will be very long. When she goes home, her house may need to be modified to meet her needs. With the help of all of you, her parents will not have to worry about how to pay for all of this. If you can, please donate. If you can't, please pray or do both. The money will go to the family to spend as they see fit. We don't know how this story will end, but either way, they will need help!
The support the family is receiving is heartwarming! Thank you all for your time and caring. If you'd like to follow her story, there is a CaringBridge site for Nadia Spears. Also, her sister and her stepfather Brett Smith have also started GoFund Me sites. We're trying to reach as many people as possible. Please Share.
