Support Myles battle through Brain Aneurysm
Donation protected

Once they arrived at the hospital, the physicians there took a CAT scan which showed that Myles had experienced a ruptured brain aneurysm causing a subarachnoid hemorrhage. The doctors determined they weren't properly equipped to help Myles, so they transported him to a bigger, more equipped hospital 3 hours away in San Jose. Immediately after Myles arrived at the hospital in San Jose, the doctors inserted a drainage tube to help release fluid and take pressure off his brain. A further complication was that Myles tested positive for COVID. Due to this, surgery was delayed until he tested negative. At that time, Myles was placed into a medically induced coma. Another CAT scan was done, and it showed that certain parts of his brain had been "compromised" due to the aneurysm bursting. When Myles finally tested negative for COVID, neurosurgical clipping was performed by a team of nine neurosurgeons. Myles was kept in the induced coma for three weeks as he had edema. After the three weeks, the sedation was slowly lowered. The surgeons said at that time that they were encouraged that he "had made it this far" but that his prognosis was very uncertain.
Myles is a 48 years old surfer and very talented commercial photographer with a focus on lifestyle and travel. He is the supporter of his family, which includes his wife Debra, daughter Maili who is 15, and son Kieren who recently turned 18 and is now beginning college. It will be a very long road to Myles's recovery, and because of this, he will be unable to work and provide for his family. My hope is that by raising funds, it will help ease the financial burden. The money raised will help with Debra's travel expenses as she periodically flies home to be with their children, help offset the overhead of their monthly bills and mortgage, and the out-of-pocket medical expenses that will incur.
Myles is an extraordinary person with a big heart. He is a devoted father and loving husband. To know him is to love him.
