Support Mya's Dance Dreams Amid Family Hardship
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Lynn and I’m raising funds to help support my daughter Mya’s dance dreams. Mya is currently in her third season of dance and her first season of competitive dance. She has absolutely fallen in love with all things dance and has grown tremendously. This opportunity and her dance studio have fostered an atmosphere of family and sisterhood for her, which is extremely important as we moved to the Atlanta area, away from most of our family, when she was only four months old. We seriously underestimated how much it could cost/take to continue pursuing her dreams but were hopeful and willing to take a risk to allow her to take competitive dance classes in addition to her regular lessons based on financial plans and business plans that we’d thought were lined up.
That all changed about 6 months ago when I lost my regular income, while pregnant with our fourth child, due to unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately, that was the same month my husband had to undergo emergency surgery, removing him from work for a month, with no income. With no income for an entire month, our focus shifted to trying to cover the most important expenses such as food, rent, medical bills for the pregnancy, etc. Her studio was gracious enough to allow her to continue to attend but it caused tuition fees to continue to build as we tried to keep up with other household expenses. Her dance season is coming to an end but we still owe for her lessons and for the upcoming recital and costumes. When I tell you we are proud, it’d be an understatement. For her groups first year competing, they scored Platinum for both dance categories at two separate competitions and also placed top ten at both as well, which is great considering they’ve never competed. In any case, in order for her to attend and continue for future seasons, we’d have to clear the past due balance, which is all we’re seeking as we regroup and decide if she will be able to attend and compete for next season, which begins late July/August. Furthermore, it’s simply the right thing to do as far as paying our balance off as the studio has worked with us (during their time of hardship as well) to allow her to keep some normalcy during our personal hardship. We’d be extremely grateful for any donation that would help Mya continue her dance dreams.
